Keeping you in the know
The Lewis Kappes Education Team has dedicated much time and expertise to the editing of the 2019-2020 Edition of the Indiana School Laws and Rules and the publication is now available for purchase! This year’s edition was co-edited by Robert Rund and Emma Jay, Lewis Kappes attorneys.
Robert Rund has served as the Editor/Co-Editor of the Indiana School Laws and Rules since 1993. Prior to entering private practice in 1973, Bob served for seven years as Director of Legal Services for the Indiana School Boards Association. Bob represents school corporations as general or special counsel throughout Indiana.
Emma Jay, co-editor of this year’s publication, focuses her education practice on special education law, employment law and contract negotiations, and Open Door Law and Access to Public Records matters.
Lewis Kappes attorneys, Karen Glasser Sharp, Michelle Cooper, Stephanie Slone and Francesca Hoffmann, members of the Lewis Kappes Education Team, and ISBA attorneys, Lisa Tanselle and Julie Slavens, as well as Dave Emmert and Eric Hylton, also assisted with the publication.
In 2019, the Indiana General Assembly passed more than 50 new laws that affect school corporations. The 2019-2020 edition of Indiana School Laws and Rules will include these new laws, as well as much of the education-related Indiana Code and state agency regulations that school board members, school administrators, and school attorneys need to know. Indiana School Laws and Rules also contains commentary that references court decisions and other helpful information, charts relevant to student discipline and employee discharge, and calendars with important dates from the State Board of Accounts and IEERB.
The 1500+ page book is a valuable resource for those individuals involved in public education. Indiana School Laws and Rules is published by Thomson Reuters Publishing Company, a nationally-recognized publisher of legal materials.
The 2019-2020 edition of Indiana School Laws and Rules is being offered exclusively through the Indiana School Boards Association, Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents, and Indiana Association of School Business Officials.
