Matthew (Matt) Tarkington is a member of the firm's appellate and civil litigation groups. He represents clients in both federal and state proceedings. He has experience at all levels of the legal system: administrative actions, trials, and appeals. Matt's practice focuses on business and commercial litigation as well as health care matters. He has represented clients in matters concerning covenants not to compete, employment discrimination, breach of fiduciary duties, interference with contractual relationships, lender liability claims, partnership and shareholder disputes, and trade secret violations as well as many other general business issues.
Matt is also skilled at litigating a wide range of civil disputes including civil rights, real estate disputes, fraud, defamation, invasion of privacy, negligence, and wrongful death. He is well-versed in proceedings governed by the Indiana Administrative Orders and Procedures Act and the Indiana Tort Claims Act. Matt is also an experienced appellate lawyer and has argued before the Indiana Supreme Court.
Matt is licensed to practice law in both Indiana and Utah. He is also a registered Indiana civil and domestic mediator. Matt is available to serve as a mediator in your case either in our Indianapolis office or at any location in Indiana.
While in law school, Matthew served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Valparaiso University Law Review.
Matt has litigation experience in state and federal courts as well as serving as a neutral in mediation and arbitration matters. He uses that experience to resolve client problems as effectively and efficiently as possible to meet the client’s needs.
