Allissa Aardema is an associate whose practice focuses on real estate and corporate transactions.
Allissa first joined Lewis Kappes as a Summer Associate in 2022. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a summer legal intern at Indiana Legal Services’ Medical–Legal Partnership in Indianapolis, and CARPLS Legal Aid in Chicago. Throughout her time in law school, she worked with the Bloomington branch of Indiana Legal Services as a legal intern, gaining valuable experience working with Indiana residents in areas of housing, consumer advocacy, and LGBTQ+ Assistance.
Allissa earned her J.D. from Indiana University’s Maurer School of Law in May 2023. During her time as a law student, Allissa served as a mentor to incoming first-year law students as a Practice Group Advisor, and was involved in OUTlaw, serving as President of the organization from 2021-2023. She also worked to help research and write the 2022 Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition problem as an Executive Problem Coordinator. Allissa also joined IP Theory, a law and technology-based journal, where she helped to host a few podcasts as an Associate before later becoming a Content Editor.
Prior to her legal studies, Allissa earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Political Science at Indiana University in Bloomington. During this time, she worked as a Biology Teaching Assistant. She also earned a certificate in the Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) Program at IU, where she also received the honor of being named a Hutton PACE Program Scholar in both 2018 and 2020.
