Katherine Schmidt is a member of the lending and finance team as well as the corporate and transactional practice group.
Prior to joining Lewis Kappes, Katherine worked as a law clerk in a firm’s corporate and transactional group in Louisville, Kentucky. While clerking, she gained valuable experience forming new entities such as LLCs, corporations, and partnerships. Katherine was able to assist in drafting and reviewing legal documents for those entities. In addition, she gained experience while being an extern for a company during law school. This externship gave her further exposure to business contracts and business litigation disputes.
Katherine earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. Her dedication to her studies and passion for the law were evident in her accomplishments and contributions during her time there. She received the CALI Award (top grade) in Torts II and Civil Procedure II along with being on the Dean’s List and graduating cum laude. In addition, she was the Vice President of the Business Law Society and the Event Coordinator of the Women’s Law Caucus.
Prior to law school, Katherine pursued her undergraduate education at Wright State University, where she excelled academically while also making her mark as a Division 1 soccer player and team captain. Her experiences both in the classroom and on the field have shaped her disciplined approach to challenges and her ability to work collaboratively to achieve a favorable outcome.
